Poland's Room | Friday Night Week Six

[The first thing Lithuania does when he arrives in Poland's room is collapse on the other nation's bed, staring blankly up at the ceiling and letting everything blur together in his vision. He'd voted incorrectly for the first time--and his vote had directly contributed to Latvia's death. Had he voted for Spain, he could have at least tied the vote and given Latvia more of a chance than he had. And the way Spain acted--well, that wasn't a surprise, really. Lithuania had spent centuries dealing with nations, after all. It still didn't make for anything but a bad taste in his mouth, looking at it from a more human, emotional standpoint. And right now Lithuania felt as if emotions and raw nerves were all he was composed of.]

I'm probably a terrible person. [The words are almost idle, the way they're spoken. But he amends the statement in the next breath.] Definitely a terrible person.

Thanks. [Lithuania sits up. Usually Lithuania didn't attempt to get drunk, but lately he'd been slipping (and the state of his own cabinet was a little embarrassing, not that he drew attention to it), because this was the sort of situation that seemed to require something to make it even a little more palatable.]

Do you think... We're just going to keep playing until we can't hold a trial anymore?

[Until there are only five of them left to be suspects.]

If that's the case then that makes the odds for survival kind of super bleak, doesn't it.

Maybe Doris can ask her boss if they're feeling generous and that trial might have six suspects.

[vytis]

Wouldn't that be exciting. [Lithuania is just going to take advantage of that bottle Poland has available and drink way too much all in one go.] This house is going to give me an ulcer.

[notyetlost]

Need a check up? [Poland holds up the chest piece of his stethoscope.]

[vytis]

[Lithuania chokes a little.] Y-you have too much fun with that outfit.

[He also wears that outfit way too well.]

[notyetlost]

[Poland grins before taking a swig from his bottle. It's hardly ladylike, despite the dress.] I make my own entertainment.

[vytis]

Does that include catapults? [Lithuania glances at Poland's desk and all of his plans again.]

[notyetlost]

Hey you can only count sheep for so long before even that gets too boring to fall asleep to. [Poland throws the mini catapult plan and his supplies over to the bed and bounces onto it.]

I raided the medical kit for some tongue depressors and got the spoon at breakfast. [Poland grabs some hair ties off the table by his bed.] I figured I could make it, I'm not gonna sleep tonight anyways.

[vytis]

You're so resourceful. [It's teasing, but it's not insincere. He looks over the catapult plan now that it's closer to him.]

You really are good with math.

[notyetlost]

Who's life are we saving with tongue depressors, please. That kit might as well get used for something.

[Poland beams.] I never really thought about it till I saw it on my card, but yeah I guess I am.

[vytis]

I've never been especially good with numbers. [Not terrible for anything practical, but with too many of them involved all meaning seems to just swim out of his grasp.] That's--really admirable, actually.

[notyetlost]

[Wow Lithuania, Poland's not used to people saying stuff like that! About him, anyways. He flushes pink.] It's just math.

[vytis]

Not everyone can do this. [Lithuania gestures at the equations.]

[notyetlost]

[Poland takes another long drink from his bottle, looking so much more pink.

Poland knows he can do a lot of impressive things it's just kinda unusual when someone actually takes him seriously long enough to think he's impressive too.]

[Lithuania smiles a little at Poland's reaction, but quickly realizes it and flusters, taking another drink himself.]

People don't seem to take you very seriously, do they?

[notyetlost]

[Poland runs his finger around the rim of the bottle, avoiding looking at Lithuania.]

Being taken seriously all the time is kind of a hassle anyways, it's like not a big deal.

[vytis]

But what about not being taken seriously at all? [Lithuania tilts his head a little.]

[Poland flaps his hand dismissively.] It's like. Not even something worth worrying about.

It just makes it all the more special when someone does.

[vytis]

A-ah... [Lithuania's words knot themselves up in his mouth before he can use any of them. He can feel his face heating up, too. He hopes it's just the alcohol, but--but it probably isn't.]

[notyetlost]

So to answer your first question--

No you're not a terrible person. At least like, not to me.

[vytis]

[Lithuania smiles genuinely, though the flush isn't gone from his face.] Thank you. [And he means it, and part of him wants to say other things, like that maybe Poland is actually kind of amazing sometimes, but he holds his tongue, because that's kind of embarrassing.]

I guess it's just stress.

[notyetlost]

Mmm! [Poland flaps his wrists, but he thinks that might be his favorite face that Lithuania's ever made... If the way his heart just fluttered in his chest seeing it is any indication.]

You really worry a lot, huh? You'd think you'd be able to relax a little given that you weren't a suspect or anything.

[vytis]

I haven't been a suspect yet, but I think that means I have more of a responsibility to do my best to help with the trials. If there are things I can do to make it easier on everyone, that's the least I can do.

[Also he worries a lot about everything.]

[notyetlost]

[That kind of mentality is probably fine for someone who is not at all like Lithuania and can actually chill out for five minutes, but this house is stressful enough without all that added.]

Wow, you put too much stress on yourself.

No wonder you get ulcers.
