Character
Name: Lithuania (when in need of a human name, he goes by Tolys Laurinaitis, so if you need a family name, you can pull from that, but Lithuania is his canonical name)
Canon: Hetalia
Canon Point: March 2018
Character Goals: In general, I've always enjoyed throwing characters into horror settings and seeing how they deal with that unique sort of stress. Specifically, I like the idea of playing with the corruption element, the mental in particular. Lithuania would be very frightened by the idea of his opinions and feelings being warped, which is exactly why I'd want to mess with it. I also like the idea of a game where Lithuania's inherent immortality is let loose, because it's really pretty gross and creepy, especially in Lithuania, who has a sky-high pain tolerance. All of the districts are interesting, but I really like the Oleander District, and I'm 100% sure Lithuania is going to get lost in that forest at least two or three times. I'll definitely be having him live there, farming, and being too close to the woods for comfort.

Lithuania is also the kind of character who tries to take care of others. That's always fun in a horror game, and by fun I mean ulcer-inducing for him as he tries to do what he can to help. Making connections that can then be used against him is always great! I'm sure I'll come up with plenty of other ideas as the game progresses, too--I tend to be very event- and plot-focused, so the more that's revealed, the more I'll try to grab onto.
Special Concerns: Normally, mortals who spend too much time around a nation end up having their sense of time warped, developing immortality, and (with species like humans) going insane. Since this would make playing in an RP basically impossible, I'll be nerfing this.

Summarize yourself in 20 words or less.
I'm a democratic European nation with wonderful, hard-working people who are trying their best to make me better.

Wait, or did you mean me as an individual? I don't stand out much, so I suppose you could just describe me as average.

[Lithuania is loyal and stubborn, a fighter in his bones, though he'd prefer to live a peaceful farming life.]
What's your home life like?
I live with my dog Ruta in a farmhouse I've had for years. [Centuries.] I have an apartment in Vilnius, as well, for times when work is very busy and it's easier not to commute as far. I've been spending a lot of time in my apartment, lately... I like to keep things clean--Poland calls me a neat freak, but that's just because he's messy, I just like things in their place. Reading, cooking, gardening, and walking my dog are how I usually spend time at home when I'm free. [He still practices swordfighting, too, but that's a bit weird, isn't it? And, honestly, he's rarely free. He's the kind of guy who takes work home with him.]
Tell me about your favorite people.
America is very young--for a nation, I mean, of course he's centuries old--and that can make it refreshing to spend time with him. Of course he's very loud and energetic, but weren't we all at that age? And even if not everyone can see it, you can tell he's done a lot of growing up. I lived with him for a time in the early 1900s, and it was very nice. He means well even if sometimes he doesn't look before he leaps.

Estonia and Latvia are the two other Baltic nations, although lately Estonia has really been trying to be seen as Nordic. We're not all that similar, I suppose, but they're still important allies. People tend to treat us like a group but we don't really agree on a lot of things, and sometimes they can be frustrating and I don't always understand them, but even if they're a little strange, they're nice.

[It would take some pushing, but Lithuania might call them his little brothers, though they're not really. It's a connection born from a mutual oppression, from having to band together because no one else would support them. Maybe none of them quite understands any of the others, but Lithuania is very fond of them.]

Miss Belarus is amazing. I know some people have said she's standoffish, but really, she's just shy. She's really quite sweet and caring and very family-oriented. She's really beautiful, too.

[Lithuania is describing Belarus under a layer of crush-induced delusion the thickness of which has possibly never been seen before. Belarus is violent and only has eyes for her brother Russia, wanting to marry him. She's sat there and broken all of Lithuania's fingers without him even noticing. Never trust anything Lithuania says about what Belarus is like.]

Miss Ukraine is a really good older sister to Miss Belarus. She can get emotional, but she's really much tougher than some people think! I like to spend time with her when I can, but of course we're both very busy.

I don't know how to describe Poland.

[Because Lithuania's relationship with Poland is complicated and confusing. They're best friends, but there have been times where they've been at each others' throats, but Poland could never hate Lithuania, but Lithuania doesn't think he's ever really hated Poland even when he's felt like he's hated Poland. He's called Poland a bastard after taking the risk of calling him on a Russian phone to warn him about things that might happen. They were married and divorced and Poland still thinks of it as only a forced separation. Poland has left bright pink handprints all over Lithuania's life, and he has no idea what he'd be like without that influence.]
Was there ever a "turning point" in your life?
I don't think I could narrow it down to one. There's a lot of situations in my life that have changed my situation drastically.

[There's his young life as the last pagan nation in Europe, his marriage to Poland via the formation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, being conquered by Russia, escaping only to be pulled back in under communism, declaring independence once more in 1990... When you're a nation, there's plenty of time for plenty of turning points. He prefers to focus on the good ones, like his current freedom, but he doesn't ignore the bad ones, either. If forced to pick only one, it would be either his first time being conquered by Russia or the formation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, depending on how sentimental he's feeling about Poland at the time. The general idea, though, is a separation from his (relatively) more carefree days in contrast to his more high-stress ones.]
Do you perform well under pressure?
I've gotten better as I've gotten older, but I perform better when I can take my time.

[This doesn't mean he doesn't perform well under pressure, though. He has been put under immense amounts of it before, and while the stress and uncertainty gets to him, he never breaks under it. With so much history of being under Russia's control and all that brought with it, it's easier for him to handle stress he views as lesser than that. Even high-intensity situations are things he can deal with. But still, he'd rather not have to be pressured.]
If you went to a deserted island, what two things would you take with you?
A boat would be the most useful thing, wouldn't it? And food and water. Usually these sorts of islands are in the ocean, so you'd need fresh water. It would be a good place to catch up on work, as well. If you're looking for something a little more frivolous, I suppose it's been a while since I've had time to read for pleasure, so I could bring some novels.
How do you normally spend a Friday night?
If I'm not working or helping out my boss I'm a bit of a homebody. [He's a lot of a homebody.] Sometimes people visit. Usually it's Poland. I'm never quite sure what I'll be doing when Poland visits.
If a genie granted you a single wish, what would you wish for?
World peace is probably too cliche, isn't it? Still, I would at least wish for a peaceful life.
Do the ends justify the means?
That depends entirely on the ends and the means. There are some things I would do anything for, but it's not the sort of excuse you can use for everything.

[He's being vague--for his people, he would do anything, become anything, to keep them safe. He would kill and die for them. It wouldn't matter what he had to do or who he had to do it to if not doing that thing meant the harm or destruction of his people. That's how it is for any nation. But Lithuania knows that's frightening to say, frightening to think about, and anyway he does try to be a good person whenever he can. When it comes to most human concerns, it's totally different, you know? You should act in the least harmful way possible when you can.]
How did you feel about this survey?
I didn't have any strong feelings one way or the other.

[Actually, he didn't particularly like filling it out. He's a private person, and while he's certainly blurted out things in his time, it feels very strange to be writing these sorts of things down. It was hardly the worst, though.]
