Lithuania's Room, Sunday Night Week Four
[As soon as Lithuania returns from the meeting in the smoking room he hurries into bed, if only so he can press his face into the pillow, clench his eyes shut, and feel sick about the entire situation in peace (only in the dark with his face hidden, though, because he can never be sure how closely they're watching and the price of a slip-up is too much on its own). It's something of a relief to know his face can still make honest expressions, because at this point his mask of indifference is becoming so settled on his face he thinks it might freeze there.
Kanaya Maryam is dead, her price for failure will come to pass, and all he did while talking to that unfortunate group of assigned failsafes was inform them that there was a special prize for killing Belarus and Yuzu. Belarus and Yuzu--he doesn't think any of them thought anything of his slight hesitation, but he likes Belarus, and he promised to try and protect Yuzu, if he could, and he's not a monster (he thinks--he thinks, but he's not sure, not really) but he can't jeopardize his people over this. He's left hoping the show's failsafes won't be needed and no one else will ask or guess.
He feels terrible for Kanaya, though he didn't know her well. She didn't deserve that execution, and he'd found himself hoping she could figure out a way out of her predicament even though it was already too late with so much evidence against her. And of course he'd voted for her, because not doing so at that point would have been ridiculous and he doesn't think his immunity will hold out forever, so he can't look suspicious. Even thinking that, though, he knows that hoping for Kanaya to get away with her crime meant condemning an innocent and being willing to let the crime against Rin go unpunished. There aren't any fair options, only options Lithuania likes more or less than other ones for his own selfish reasons.
Still, he would like the group of designated killers to at least have some degree of success, if he's going to be selfish anyway. He would like that, and he thinks he'd like Poland to escape, too, if he can. Making friends in this situation is a terrible idea, but it's too late for that. Of course, he'd wanted Yuzu to get away, too, and now it was looking like--
He worries himself to sleep, like he does every night.]
